Esthetics

There are two components that play a crucial role in the esthetic smile evaluation: the teeth and the gums. A harmony between these two elements must exist in order to achieve a good esthetic result.

During the smile evaluation, the periodontist evaluates the symmetry and the gingival harmony in order to determine if there is an excess or a lack of gingiva.

LACK OF GINGIVA (LONG-LOOKING TEETH)

This type of problem is due to recession (please refer to the section on gingival recession). To correct this situation, a minor surgical procedure, such as a gingival graft, will allow to create the proper esthetic gingival contour.

It is very important to perform these surgical procedures prior to the prosthetic phase (crowns, veneers, restoration on implant, dental implants).

GINGIVAL EXCESS (SHORT-LOOKING TEETH)

A minor surgical correction will allow to eliminate the gum excess and to achieve an esthetic gingival contour.

It is very important to perform these surgical procedures prior to the prosthetic phase (crowns, veneers, restoration on implant, dental implants).
