There are two components that play a crucial role in the esthetic smile evaluation: the teeth and the gums. A harmony between these two elements must exist in order to achieve a good esthetic result.<\/p>\n
During the smile evaluation, the periodontist evaluates the symmetry and the gingival harmony in order to determine if there is an excess or a lack of gingiva.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
This type of problem is due to recession (please refer to the section on gingival recession). To correct this situation, a minor surgical procedure, such as a gingival graft, will allow to create the proper esthetic gingival contour.<\/p>\n
It is very important to perform these surgical procedures prior to the prosthetic phase (crowns, veneers, restoration on implant, dental implants).<\/p>\n
